Baby Pearls

Baby Pearls is a comprehensive perinatal education program to prevent preterm labor. It consists of three classes, three interviews and services. Mothers who should have this service are invitro families, infertility families, high risk mothers (diabetics, those with heart disease, etc), and mothers with a history of preterm birth (this is the most important risk factor).

The classes, interviews and services will assist with:

  • Coping/Stress Tolerance
  • Values/Beliefs
  • Social/Psychological Support
  • Physiological Issues
  • Emotional Issues
  • Work Related Issues
  • Physical Surroundings/Environment
  • Traveling During Pregnancy
  • Education/Planning

Purpose and objectives of the three classes:

  • To provide a program for assessment and where necessary, nursing intervention to help promote prenatal wellness and prevent preterm birth.
  • To identify factors which influence pregnancy outcome.
  • To develope a positive pregnancy action plan
  • To provide support to families who are at risk for preterm birth, and for all first time mothers.
  • To create a baby pearls quilt through participation in the program.
  • To provide a group support system for mothers

The three interviews will consist of:

  • Preconception information
  • Early Pregnancy Confirmation and Referrals
  • First Trimester Education
  • Second Trimester Education
  • Third Trimester Education

Services include:

  • Hospital lactation visit or home postpartum visit

Cost for the three classes, three interviews and services begin at $380.
